So I spent nearly an hour tonight reminiscing with my BFF about some of the adventures we’ve been on.
In one, we met a self-proclaimed “murderer” in the remote backwoods of Kentucky that threw himself completely onto the windshield of our car. There’s nothing like trying to leave the only dollar store in an abandoned ghost town with some random psycho stuck in your car. Unfortunately, we had just had a conversation with him and his wife about the cabin we were staying at for our little getaway. Thankfully he turned out to be a harmless wierdo that desperately needed friends. Still yet, it’s a little unnerving simply existing in a part of the world that still doesn’t have cell phone service in 2012.
So we were in the middle of an African safari in Masai Mara with 583 square miles of all natural wildlife reservation where we had incredible cell phone service. Irony? We were in there 11 months ago. We were harrassed by American media that the Al-Shabab terrorist group might throw grenades at us. We were warned not to go. We went. We did a concert in front of nearly 1000 blank faces. When you’re a minority, blank faces are the last thing you want to see. I was convinced at least one of them had a backpack full of grenades. After being told they were watching so intently because they actually cared about lyrics, instead of mindless dancing, I was quite relieved. I prayed they would come to America and teach our children about music. We fell in love with those people.
We’ve only been married for 4 years, but it’s so amazing to think of the adventures God has already let my best friend and I experience. There’s hundreds more stories too! It’s such a blessing, and I’m so excited about all the adventures we’ve yet to see. I can’t wait to find out what the next one will be! Living life with Jesus is incredible. I really hope you’re trying it!
Dr. Seuss said it best in his book “Oh, the Places You’ll Go!”
“You will come to a place where the streets are not marked.
Some windows are lighted. but mostly they’re darked.
A place you could sprain both your elbow and chin!
Do you dare to stay out? Do you dare to go in?
How much can you lose? How much can you win?”
There’s some amazing challenges to be won. God’s blessed us with some amazing life to be lived.
Make it happen.
